Ecolant is building the largest noise shield in the Nizhny Novgorod region
The company "Ecolant", which is building the first Russian green metallurgy plant in the city of Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod region, is simultaneously erecting the largest noise shield in the region with a total area of more than 17 thousand square meters. In complex with other measures, the screen will provide regulatory indicators for noise at the border of sanitary and protective and residential zones during the operation of under construction and existing facilities.
The volume of investments will amount to more than 300 million rubles. The screen will be put into operation in the 2nd quarter of 2022, so it will begin to perform its protective function even during the construction of the electrometallurgical complex.
To date, more than 45% of the planned work has been completed. The total length of the noise shield will be 1,700 meters, the height will be 10 meters. The project provides the most modern technologies: the 340mm thick structure consists of two noise-absorbing panels with a thickness of 60 and 120 mm with an air layer between them of 150 mm to reduce sound vibrations.
To calculate the necessary parameters of the noise shield, we attracted one of the leaders in the engineering and environmental services market — the Shaneco Group of Companies. The design of the screen was developed by the Stalkon plant on the basis of the results of experimental laboratory studies.
As part of the project, the Ecolant company plans to improve the section from the noise shield to the nearby bypass road.
"We have provided the decision to build a noise shield at the stage of pre—design studies - environmental impact assessment and preparation of the sanitary protection zone project. Construction work began precisely with the construction of the screen so that it would reduce the noise from the work on the construction site of the complex, even though the residential buildings closest to the future complex are located at a distance of more than a kilometer, beyond the sanitary limits.the protective zone. In the future, with the launch of Ecolant together with other technical solutions, such as the installation of silencers and noise-absorbing structures, the screen will provide regulatory indicators for noise. In addition, in 2021, at the border of the sanitary protection zone, we planted a forest belt of more than 900 trees of different breeds: linden, pine, willow and poplar. Green spaces, in addition to air purification, will also reduce the noise load on the nearby locality," said Andrey Kukhno, director of Ecolant.
